Five-hour standoff in Flour Mill

After a nearly five-hour standoff with police, a man who refused to leave a Wilma Street apartment after a family dispute was taken into custody at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 18. Sudbury.com was on the scene and captured the ordeal on camera. Click here to watch the video.

Beaver Lake residents give bureaucrats earful on firefighting 

During a Sept. 18 meeting about fire services, City of Greater Sudbury bureaucrats got an earful from a couple of residents of the rural community of Beaver Lake, who say they failed to pass the volunteer firefighter recruitment standards. Residents say their volunteer-run fire station is in a critical situation, as it's down to just three firefighters. City officials have come up with some plans they say could remedy the issue. Hwy. 69 crash claims life of 61-year-old Capreol man

The West Parry Sound OPP have released new information about the fatal Sunday evening crash that closed Highway 69 overnight.
The two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a Capreol man, Parry Sound OPP Staff Sgt. Mike Gordon told Sudbury.com. Nehemiah Richards, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred just south of Pointe au Baril in the two-lane portion of the highway.
Richards was northbound when the vehicle he was driving collided head on with a southbound vehicle driven by Wolfgang Boehmer of Frontenac. Boehmer was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Missing 14-year-old girl located in good health 

Alexis Carriere, 14, was reported missing Sept. 18, having last been seen Sunday in New Sudbury. However, Greater Sudbury Police said later on Monday that she had been found in good health. Click here to read more.
