Sudbury women march to say #timesup:

The movement which began almost a year ago continues today across the globe. Women from all walks of life braved January weather here in Sudbury to take part in the local edition of Women’s March. Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath and Nickel Belt MPP France Gelinas were among the many women who were marching in solidarity for women who have been systemically repressed and silenced throughout the centuries.Click here if you missed out on the action 

SDLC honours those who made a difference:

The Sudbury and District Labour Council celebrated their 60th anniversary by honouring community members who have positively influenced Sudbury in an inaugural gala Saturday night. Working Class Heroes Banquet hosted a night of celebrations where unions and community organizations recognized community leaders who have or continue to make strides in advancing health and safety research, giving back to those in need, protecting human rights or lobbying for change. Click here to read more about the unsung heroes

Boréal heads to Guatemala on humanitarian initiative:

Collège Boréal members are gearing up for a Humanitarian Project in Guatemala, as part of an initiative to help those living in poverty, both at home and internationally. The announcement was made at the Timmins campus on Jan. 18. Find out more details by clicking here 

Driver recounts close call caught on dashcam:

It was supposed to be a regular Saturday for Lively resident Jason Gagne. However, the events that transpired on this fateful Saturday has him thanking the driver ahead of him for his, or her, quick thinking. Watch the dashcam footage of a close call here 

Charges laid following weapons complaint

An arrest has been made in connection with the incident on Eva Street on Saturday morning. Around 7 a.m., police received a call regarding an unwanted person, which proceeded to a weapons complaint. Click here for more on this story and updates as they become available. 

Wolves end Battalion win streak:

David Levin snapped a six-game scoreless streak, and the Sudbury Wolves ended the North Bay Battalion impressive six-game win streak 2-1. Sudbury could see up to 25 cm of snow Monday:

In a special weather statement, Environment Canada is warning of a snowstorm beginning Monday and continuing Monday night and Tuesday for Greater Sudbury and area. Check back www.sudbury.com/weather for updated weather statements

Winter storm watch has been issued for Monday. Cloudy skies to begin the week with some flurries. A dangerous mix of heavy snowfall amounting up to 10 cms and gusty winds expected for the late morning with the temperature at -6 C. Gusting winds and snowfall continues till Tuesday morning.
