The Elgin Street Mission wants to give its clients a special treat — a meal featuring food from Verdicchio’s Restaurant.
A partnership between the Elgin Street Mission, Verdicchio’s Restaurant and the Lougheed Foundation will mean that Sudbury’s most vulnerable citizens will have a meal to remember.
The partners are looking for sponsors for 200 guests, at $100 a piece, and are hoping that the community will support their endeavour to offer Elgin Street Mission clients a high-end meal, “a simple way to communicate their value and worth,” said a release from the Mission.
The Mission does not receive any regular government or city funding but functions through generosity of its community partners.
Providing two meals a day, every day, with nearly 100,000 meals being served yearly as well as clothing, showers, laundry facilities and “safe refuge in times of need.”
