St. Albert Adult Learning Centre accepting registrations

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board is accepting registrations for adult education classes at St. Albert Adult Learning Centre.

Those interested in signing up are asked to go to 504 St. Raphael Street in Sudbury between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

There will also be a coffee and information session Sept. 28 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

St. Albert Adult Learning Centre runs on a continuous intake process, so you can register and begin classes at any time. Students are asked to bring a copy of their most recent transcript when they come to register. The cost is $60 with a $40 refundable book deposit.

A wide range of courses and specialized training is available. Some classes are teacher taught, and with others, the student can work at their own pace and a teacher is in the classroom to support their work. 

The school's business program begins Oct. 4. The course counts as four credits towards students' Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students are also certified in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. 

New this year is a Personal Support Worker program, where students can receive their certificate and six credits towards their high school diploma in just six months. An information session will take place Nov. 4 at 9:3 a.m. at the school.

Correspondence registration will take place Oct. 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Students in need of Grade 9 and 10 credits can register for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), where students can upgrade their skills and can achieve up to 16 credits towards their high school diploma.

St. Albert Adult Learning Centre offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes as well as heritage language courses for elementary aged children.
