A group of Sudburians will be holding a display of peace and friendship to show support and solidarity for the land defenders and water protectors at Standing Rock who are facing increasing violence and repression at the hands of the colonial authorities.

The event is happening Nov. 3 at the Sudbury Downtown Market location (233 Elgin St.) from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.

"We need to stand up for these and all land defenders and water protectors being persecuted because they are at the service of Mother Earth and ultimately, all of us," said a post on the group's Facebook event page.

"This is our opportunity in this territory to make a statement and send a message to the powers that be; we are paying attention to what is happening in Sioux Territory and we wont be silent. The World is Watching."

Everyone is encouraged to bring signs (some will be available), drums, medicines, prayers, positive energy, and to wear their regalia.

"We will round dance at least three (two intersections plus top of the bridge) times and finish with a candlelit display over the arch of the bridge on the west side at dusk or dark."
