The Centre de santé communautaire du Grand Sudbury's Back to School Community Store — which provides school supplies for low-income Francophone families — received a big boost recently from the Staples store on Notre Dame Avenue.

The store donated close to $8,000 in supplies to the initiative.

“By offering us clearance merchandise at discounted prices, Staples ensures the success of the project,” said Denis Constantineau, executive director of the community store project.

“So much so that the savings generated through this partnership means not only that we can serve more youth than anticipated, but also that we can help them with additional school items."

What's more, combining Staples donating with suppport from Club Richlieu International and other program partners means, this year, post-secondary students with financial challenges can also access Centre de santé's backing.

“This will be the first time in seven years that we have the resources to do so, and we are very happy about it, since we are aware of the financial burden on students at the college and university levels,” Constantineau said.
