Downed power lines causing major power outage affecting thousands of customers

Sudbury Hydro is reporting major outages in the West End and Long Lake areas. These will both likely be long-lasting outages, according to Sudbury Hydro.

Violent thunderstorms have caused 119 outages affecting over 48,000 customers according to Hydro One.

Update:

Sudbury Hydro says it has to wait until Hydro One restores power to them before the GSU can restore power to local customers.

Hydro One's outage map can be found here and it estimates power should be restored around 9 p.m.

Sudbury Hydro is reporting major outages in the West End and Long Lake areas.

These will both likely be long-lasting outages, according to Sudbury Hydro.

Ward 7 Coun. Mike Jakubo tweeted that power is also out in New Sudbury, south of Lasalle Boulevard and east of Notre Dame Avenue.

Sudbury Hydro is also reporting power lines down at Paris Street and Nepahwin Avenue. Fire crews are on the scene of these downed lines and Sudbury Hydro crews are en route.

These downed lines have caused power outages affecting thousands. Power may be out for while and Sudbury Hydro has given no estimated time of restoration.
