The Northern Cancer Foundation (NCF) hosted their 21st annual Strokes for Hope Golf  Classic on Thursday, Aug. 18 at Timberwolf Golf Club.

This year’s tournament raised $46,000 with 100 per cent of the proceeds from the event benefitting the Northeast Cancer Centre and will be used for patient care, the purchase of equipment and cancer research.

Since its inception in 1996, Strokes for Hope has contributed over more than $1 million.

“It is amazing to think that it has been 21 years since the inaugural "Strokes for Hope" golf classic.  Over those 21 years this tournament and all of our partners, volunteers, sponsors and supporters have built a legacy of support for local cancer care,” said Shane Smith, Chair of the NCF Board of Directors.

“Many have returned year after year to support the tournament, the Northern Cancer Foundation, and most of all the cancer centre”
