Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Greater Sudbury and vicinity with strong southerly winds gusting up to 70 or 80 kilometres per hour.

The winds are expected to last a few more hours before easing this evening.

“These strong winds have the potential to break small tree branches and toss loose objects,” said the statement. “Local power outages are also possible.”
