A delegation from École St-Denis visited the Northern Cancer Research Foundation June 1 to present the foundation with $1,500 raised in memory of Riley Gallo.

Riley died eight years ago, at the age of five, from a brain tumour.

“Your heart is broken,” Rob Gallo, Riley's father, said in a press release. “There’s a piece of your heart that is always missing.”

Riley's former schoolmates and teachers at École St-Denis have kept his memory alive by hosting a series of yearly fundraisers in support of the Northern Cancer Research Foundation.

This year's donation brings the school’s contributions to more than $15,000.

“We look forward to their visit each year,” Vicky Wilton, Pediatric Interlink nurse at the Regional Cancer Program, said.

“It is unfortunate, of course, given the circumstances, but we have built a wonderful relationship with the Gallo family, as well as with his school. We will continue to keep his memory alive.”
