Dental hygiene students at Cambrian College may have sore feet, but they’re all smiles after their 20th annual Walk For A Smile event last week.

Students hit the ground walking, to raise money for Cambrian’s community dental clinic and for the charity, Northern Ontario Families of Children with cancer.

“What a way to celebrate 20 years of the Walk for A Smile fundraiser,” said Heather Mackenzie, a Dental Hygiene Technologist with Cambrian’s Dental Hygiene program, in a press release.

“I am so amazed by how dedicated our students are and that they were able to exceed our original $3,000 fundraising goal and bring in more than $5,970 this year. That amount of money will go very far towards ensuring better oral health and preventative dental care to so many families across Greater Sudbury.”

Approximately 100 Dental Hygiene students took part in last Friday’s walk, including third-year student Savannah Benoit of New Liskeard.

“I am incredibly proud of myself and my fellow students this year,” said Benoit. “We all worked really hard to fundraise and we all had our hearts in this. We’re definitely excited to raise money for a good cause, and it’s going to be the best year yet.”

Cambrian’s Dental Hygiene program faculty, staff, and students would like to thank all the donors who made this year’s Walk For A Smile so successful.
