The weather couldn't have been anymore perfect and Sudburians took full advantage of the abundant sunshine to help Canada ring in its 146 birthday, July 1.

Although the city's residents celebrated in their own unique ways, thousands turned out to Science North on Monday for the science centre's annual Canada Day bash.

Food, face-painting, fun and games were just a part of the festivities on the shores of Ramsey Lake.

Live music kept toes tapping and a magician kept folks guessing, while Science North bluecoats demonstrated the science of fireworks, and young and old took their turns taking part in the Unbelievable! Talent Show contest.

As the sun went down, the inimitable Pandora Topp and les Giselles whipped the crowd into a patriotic frenzy with their contagious energy and irrepressible joie-de-vivre — a perfect way to get the crowd excited for the evening fireworks display by Dream Catcher Fireworks of Sudbury.
