Sudbury Credit Union recently presented Finlandia Village with a $2,500 cheque.
The funds are in support of first annual Sling-Choker SISU Family Walk — which is raising money for Sudbury's for-seniors-only fitness and wellness facility located at Finlandia Village in Minnow Lake, said a news release.
The for-seniors-only Fitness and Wellness Centre at Finlandia Village offers "a spacious, warm and inclusive workout environment," the press release stated, with a large main workout area, padded floor for low impact on joints and HUR hydraulic exercise equipment. The facility also features an indoor heated pool, his and hers large sauna rooms and change rooms and is fully accessible to all seniors, regardless of mobility.
“We are so pleased to support the first annual Sling-Choker SISU Family Walk as we are close neighbours with Finlandia Village and many of staff and members have family that call Finlandia Village home,” said Pat Brady, Minnow Lake branch manager, in a news release.
On Sept. 24, in partnership with Lasalle Secondary School, Finlandia Village residents and their families invite the community of Greater Sudbury to join in and show their SISU by walking for seniors health.
“Finlandia’s newly dedicated fitness area is benefiting Sudbury seniors; however, additional specialized fitness equipment, outdoor walking trails and programming is needed. Physical fitness has become a part of an older adults lifestyle, and we want to continue to support it,” said David Munch, CEO, Finlandia Village, in a news release. “We appreciate the support from our neighbours at Sudbury Credit Union.”
