Late last week, members of the Sudbury  OPP established a R.I.D.E. initiative on Highway 17 at Highway 69 in Greater Sudbury.

At around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, police pulled over a westbound pickup truck occupied by a male driver who stopped at the R.I.D.E. program.

“Officers detected the odour of marijuana emanating from interior of the vehicle,” the release said. “As a result of the investigation, police located and seized a quantity of drugs inside the pickup truck.”

The 57-year-old driver was arrested and charged with possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana, a violation of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

“The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on July 6 to answer to the charges,” the release said.
