Vicky Wilton, a pediatric interlink nurse in the Supportive Care Program at the Sudbury Regional Hospital’s Regional Cancer Program, has been awarded the Sibling STAR Partner Certification from SuperSibs!, a national non-profit organization working to support brothers and sisters of children with cancer.

Funded by a grant from the Lance Armstrong Foundation, SuperSibs! Sibling STAR Partner Certification Award honors outstanding professionals and programs in the pediatric oncology community, making a difference in the lives of the often forgotten brothers and sisters of children with cancer, according to a press release.

Wilton has received this recognition award based on an application that documented the sibling support programs and therapeutic interventions that have been implemented at Sudbury Regional Hospital by Wilton.

“SuperSibs! is honored to be able to help provide this necessary and vital support to help siblings heal. Our work with dedicated professionals from around the country has further empowered them with the necessary tools and resources that help siblings feel valued, validated, heard and supported,”Sandi Ring, national director of outreach and education at SuperSibs!

“Vicky has demonstrated her dedication and commitment to comprehensive sibling support in her work with Sudbury Regional Hospital’s sibling art therapy program and utilization of SuperSibs! outreach and education materials. It is our privilege to award her with this special distinction,” Ring said.
