Sudbury Sea Cadets capture 1st place in band competition

Local Drum and Bugle band partners with counterparts in Sault Ste. Marie, to claim first place in Northern qualifier

It has been an exciting month for members of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Admiral Mountbatten here in Sudbury.

The Northern Ontario Band and Drill Competition, which took place May 25, welcomed Sea, Army and Air cadets from across Northern Ontario. Sudbury competed in the Drill with Arms, Drill Without Arms and Military Band categories.

The local Sea Cadets' Drum and Bugle team competed jointly with Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Royal Sovereign from Sault Ste. Marie.

The joint band of 23 cadets performed music from the band Queen, earning them first place and the award for Top Military Band.

The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Admiral Mountbatten has been a part of the Sudbury community for the past 75 years, educating cadets ages 12-18 in leadership and team building.

The program is free and welcome to anyone interested in learning about sailing, ship operation, drill performances, fitness and music, to name a few.

Find out more about the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Admiral Mountbatten on their Facebook page, or visiting the Sudbury Armoury during their Monday night marches from 6:30-9 p.m.
