The City of Greater Sudbury is inviting residents to apply to join the city fire services as volunteer firefighters.

In a news release this morning, the city said candidates must read the information guide and complete an application form, both of which are available here. 

Recruitment begins July 4 and applications must be submitted no later than Aug. 5 at 4:30 p.m.

To qualify, applicants must be 18 years of age, have completed Grade 12, possess a valid ‘G’ driver’s licence with a good driving record and have access to a private motor vehicle. Candidates are also required to have First Aid training and CPR certificates.

Individuals who proceed though the selection process must also meet aptitude, medical, physical and other requirements.

Applicants are also strongly encouraged to attend a training session at the station they’re applying to for a tour and to ask any questions they may have about volunteer firefighting. Training sessions take place once a week at each station. For a list of the stations and the training nights and times please refer to the volunteer firefighter information package.
