Despite frigid temperatures, Liberal candidate Glenn Thibeault and Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne greeted skaters on the Ramsey Lake skating path with hot chocolate and snacks as they launched the 'Team Thibeault RV'. The launch also coincided with the opening weekend of the skating path beginning at Science North.

Thibeault hopes that the campaign vehicle will keep his team of canvassers warm, so that they all can continue to reach out and talk to more people around the city.

Wynne and Thibeault spoke to Mayor Brian Bigger on Friday to discuss platform issues and future plans for economic development.

“We talked about jobs, we talked about the excellent expertise in mining that is here in Sudbury. We talked about how we can export that knowledge to the world,” said Wynne, “We talked about infrastructure and the building of roads and how necessary that is for Sudbury to thrive. Those are the issues that we're focused on, getting jobs to Sudbury, and making sure that people have the resources they need to grow and be strong.”

Both Thibeault and Wynne stressed the importance of focusing on the platform issues first and foremost during this campaign.

“It's all about making sure we talk to people,” said Thibeault, “Healthcare, jobs, the Ring of Fire, we talked yesterday (with Bigger) about the mining cluster we have here. That mining cluster employs 17,000 people. Those 17,000 people will be able to create more jobs if we get the Ring of Fire up and running. It's about ensuring that our community continues to thrive and prosper, and that's something I'm very excited to be a part of, especially with the plan that the premier has for the province.”

The Thibeault RV will be hitting the streets for the remainder of the by-election, making stops at local coffee shops and neighbourhoods along the way.
