Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault and North East Local Integration Health Network CEO Louise Paquette will make an announcement Friday, March 27, on “major funding” for mental health and addictions services in the northeast.
Health Sciences North on Wednesday released a budget preview, which includes $5.2 million in spending cuts, and the phasing out of two full-time positions for the hospital's mental health and addictions program.
The hospital said it will implement a planned bed closure in the psychiatry department during periods of low occupancy.
The $5.2-million cost reduction is due to a budget freeze at the hospital that is now in its third year.
