The Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation is looking for some generous citizens to help send 30 kids to camp before summer runs out.

The SMCF has sent 550 kids to camp already this year, but have exhausted their funds that were raised over the course of the winter and spring.

Many summer camps have opened their doors and offered discounted rates or even free spots, but those too have been maxed out.

“We've asked all of the camps we've used about donated spots and they've all been filled,” said Anne Salter Dorland, Executive Director, SMCF.

“We had 105 spots donated to us of the 550 kids we have sent to camp so far, but we still have about 30 remaining on our waiting list and there are no more donated spots coming it.”

The SCMF needs roughly $10,000 to find spaces for the children who are still on the waiting list.

“There's a bit of a time crunch on this as there are only about three weeks left in the camp season,” said Salter Dorland.

Anyone interested in donating is asked to first call the SMCF office so as to avoid any confusion with money that is coming in.

“We still have money coming in for the kids that have already gone to camp so we just ask that you call and let us know that this is for the waiting list kids,” said Salter Dorland.

If you would like to donate you can reach the SMCF at 705-673-2227.
