You have heard about the robot that cleans your house. You may have also heard about Alexa, who wakes you up with the latest news updates.

Are you ready to find out what’s next in the Great Robotics challenge?

The Science North cavern will play host to 122 Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) students along with 22 teachers as they put their knowledge to test at the 15th Great Robotics Challenge, otherwise known as Le Grand Défi Robotique.

The contest rules are simple.

Each team will be required to build a robot made from LEGO EV3 and NXT blocks.

Winners will be decided on the merit of the robot’s strength and precision as well as the success of its programming and level of control by its student masters. In addition to judging the robots for their efficiency, the teams will also be judged on the quality of their school banner and their team cheer.

The organizers have added another layer of excitement to the robotics challenge this year, by introducing the opportunity to participate in a video context.

The competition goes Feb. 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
