Timmins James-Bay MPP Gilles Bisson spoke to about 100 striking members of Steelworkers Local 6500 at a rally held at the Copper Cliff smelter picket line Feb. 10.

The politicians spoke about the need for the provincial and federal government to intervene in the strike. The rally coincided with a blockade that strikers began earlier that morning at all picket lines.

Leo Gerard, international president of the Steelworkers, says it’s time both provincial and federal governments step up and show some leadership with respect to the mining industry and this strike in particular.
