Traffic was slowed in both directions on Regent Street Tuesday evening after a vehicle caught fire on the side of the road.

Twitter user Devin (@Lexcyn) tweeted a photo of the blaze to Sudbury.com, CBC Sudbury and Greater Sudbury Police Services at around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the tweet, "tow truck driver heroically put it out".

While @Lexcyn was correct that a bystander put out the fire, the person was not a tow truck driver. That Good Samaritan reached out to Sudbury.com to clarify that he's actually a mobile mechanic.

Greater Sudbury Fire Services platoon chief Chris Stokes confirmed that the vehicle fire was caused by a collision and to the best of his knowledge, the resulting injuries were minor.

Sudbury.com has reached out to Greater Sudbury Police Services for more details on this collision but have not yet received any reply.
