From the minute he walked in the door, Justin Trudeau was the most popular guy at a fundraising dinner at the Caruso Club Saturday.

Trudeau was the keynote speaker at Le Salon du livres de Grand Sudbury's fundraising event, Un amour de bibliotheques.

After taking the time to chat with reporters, Trudeau was swarmed by a mob of people looking to rub shoulders with the son of one of Canada's former prime ministers.

While Trudeau spent a lot of time talking about the environment and literature, he also addressed his political future. There has been speculation the 35-year-old will run for a federal seat in a riding in Montreal.

Trudeau said a decision will be made by the time an election called and that he's used to the comparisons between himself and his father, Pierre Elliot Trudeau.

"Expectations for me are either so incredibly high or so amazingly low that I can hardly do wrong. I will be somewhere in the middle," Trudeau said.

"I will be better than some people think and I won't be my father the way other people think but I've spent my life living in that shadow and done an awful lot of work, not always on camera, trying to establish my own identity."
