UFCW locals pitch in for Sudbury Food Bank

This week the United Food and Commercials Workers Union (UFCW) Local 175 and 633 presented a cheque for $3,000 to the Sudbury Food Bank.

Derik McArthur, UFCW region director for Northern Ontario, presented a cheque on Dec. 12 for $3,000 to the Sudbury Food Bank.

"Union members care," McArthur said in a news release. "UFCW Local 175 and 633 have made a commitment across Ontario to fight hunger, pooling our resources to make similar donations across the province and here in the North. We hope these funds make a real difference in people's lives."

UFCW Local 175 & 633 represents more than 70,000 members across Ontario in the several sectors, including retail food, food manufacturing, retail and hospitality workers, local municipal workers, health and not-for-profit sector workers, security guards, school bus drivers, volunteer firefighters and more. 

The union’s executive board, made up of active workers, set aside $90,000 to support dozens of food banks across the province.
