United Way thanks donors for 30 years of success

In its 30-year history, many donors have helped United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts raise more than $34 million for social service programs in Greater Sudbury and District.

In its 30-year history, many donors have helped United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts raise more than $34 million for social service programs in Greater Sudbury and District.

“We wanted to take time this summer and start personally thanking our donors,” Jean Hanson, 2012 Campaign Cabinet vice-chair, said. “This is a new initiative that has Board of Directors and Campaign Cabinet members work together to make phone calls to say thank you for donors’ ongoing support.”

Volunteers placed calls on July 31, Aug. 1-2. As a non-profit leader, United Way recognizes the importance of donor appreciation and recognition, Hanson added.

“As board president, I was excited to get involved with this new initiative,” Bertha Paulse said. “While speaking with some donors, I heard some really positive feedback. As a board member, I have had the opportunity to see first-hand how the campaign is run, how the money is allocated, as well as the positive effect donor support has had on the programs United Way funds.”

Over the next few years, United Way plans to continue to personally thank all of its individual and corporate donors, the organization said.
