Two Jesuit priests are being honoured by the University of Sudbury at its convocation Nov. 14.

Known by all as Father Ron, Ronald Perron is an alumnus of the Collège du Sacré-Coeur.

He has worked with the university community as registrar at the University of Sudbury and director of the Lucien-Matte Residence.

Long-serving as parish priest and spiritual director, he is considered a true community leader, a press release said.

The second recipient is Ovey Mohammed, who is also a Jesuit and a professor at Regis College, University of Toronto.

He is awarded this prestigious recognition for his academic contribution through his many thoughtful written pieces on interfaith dialogue and the relevance of religion in a modern world, the press release said.

The ceremony takes place starting at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14 in the Canisius Hall at the University of Sudbury. Other prizes, including Senate awards and University of Sudbury scholarships, will also be presented during this ceremony.

This year, this celebration will be particularly special as the University of Sudbury celebrates 100 years of existence.
