The Mood Disorders Society of Canada will bring the second annual Walk for Mental Health Awareness to Sudbury May 23.

Organizers hope to raise $60,000 through the walk to provide direct support to individuals affected by mental illness and their families.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre in Bell Park, and the walk is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

“This is a great opportunity to help break down the barrier of stigma, which is so often associated with mental illness, and get people talking about their mental well-being,” organizers said in a press release.

The walk is part of the Defeat Depression campaign, which aims to reduce the stigma associated with depression and other mood disorders.
