The River & Sky Music is coming up July 19 - 22 and organizers are looking for more volunteers of all ages and abilities.

The festival, set on the Sturgeon River at Fishers’ Paradise in the community of Field, features close to 40 emerging indie bands over its four days, including headliners Born Ruffians, The Pack A.D., Chad VanGaalen and Land of Talk.

Volunteer Hrithik Lakhanpal, a Cambrian College Public Relations student, has helped out with communications and also postering for the festival.

“I like the idea behind River & Sky,” said Lakhanpal, who will attending and volunteering at the festival for the first time this July.

River & Sky presents emerging Canadian music in nature in support of sustainability. Lakhanpal, who has recently moved to Canada from India, enjoys its sense of community.

Each year, River & Sky relies on the relentless energy and diverse talents of its member-volunteers to make the festival happen.

The festival is looking to fill spots in artist hospitality, merchandise, welcome gate, venue development, and other areas. It’s simple to sign up and become a River & Sky member, just visit the website www.riverandsky.ca and click volunteer.

Roxanne Taillefer, who also manages the festival’s office interns, is returning for the second year as Volunteer Coordinator for River and Sky.

Taillefer is the friendly person on the other end of the call or email guiding people to sign up for shifts online, as well as the mastermind scheduling the close to 200 volunteers over the festival weekend.

“Our online volunteer schedule is up and running. And we still need more volunteers with all sorts of skills and abilities," said Taillefer.

"It’s great to have been able to take all the learnings from my first year and use them to fine tune the volunteer system this year.”
