'We all hurt the same'

A Wikewemikong woman representing the Sudbury Branch of the Red Cross has left for Lafayete, La. where she will help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Phyllis Kinoshameg, an executive assistant with the Wikewemikong Health Centre, will be deployed for three weeks to assist with volunteer shelters and vehicles.

"I feel it is very important to give back to the community, including our global community," said Kinoshameg in a news release. "We all hurt the same."

Including Kinoshameg, the Canadian Red Cross has deployed 242 workers to the Katrina relief effort in the American south. The Red Cross is still accepting donations for hurricane relief, which can be made by calling 1-800-418-1111.
