A wide-load escort scheduled for today to move a 200-tonne transformer from the Hydro One station on Hydro Road in Hanmer to the CN rail yard in Capreol will shut down sections of the route it will take.

The escort will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. If not completed the load will park and complete the move after 6 p.m., according to Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The wide load will be escorted by police and interruptions in traffic and access along the route will take place creating a series of short-term inconveniences for the residents of these areas and for those travelling along the route, which is:

- Hydro Road to MR 85 (Radar Road)
- MR 85 (Radar Road) to MR 84 (Capreol Road)
- MR 84 to Dennie Street to Lincoln Street
- Ending at the CN Rail Yard in Capreol

The public is asked to consider alternative routes to get to intended destinations during this time period should travelling in these areas be required.

The overall dimensions of the load will require the escort to travel at slow speeds (approximately 10 km/hr) at a maximum.
