The winter version of the Sudbury Market is back for another season starting Oct. 21, but it will be doing it from a new location.

“The Sudbury Market is thrilled to unveil its brand-new location at Elm Place, with doors opening on Saturday, October 21,” the market said in a news release. “This exciting development comes in partnership with the Vista Hospitality Group — the ownership group of Elm Place — reflecting a collective commitment to support local businesses and provide an enriched experience to shoppers.”

Erin Rowe, chair of the Sudbury Market, said she’s excited about the move.

“This move symbolizes a bright new chapter for our community of dedicated farmers, artisans, and market enthusiasts,” she said. “For years, the Sudbury Market has been a cornerstone within our community, providing a stage for local farmers, artisans and crafters to showcase their creations. Elm Place’s commitment  to provide a positive, safe and satisfying shopping experience to all customers shows the potential for meaningful collaboration between local businesses.”

The Market will be open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the mall at Elm Place. As always, market visitors can find a variety of products for sale, including “fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, breads, jams, honey, crafts, accessories, baked products and more.”

Besides offering protection from inclement weather, the Elm Place location offers permanent vendor stalls and new additions like a children’s corner and an entertainment area. Elm Place is offering free three-hour parking for market visitors at its more than 900 parking spaces.

Samer Ghazi, vice-president of asset management of Vista Hospitality Group, said Elm Place is excited for the new partnership.

“We are thrilled to announce that Elm Place will be the new home for the Sudbury Market,” Ghazi said. “This is a great opportunity for us to support local farmers and artisans, and to offer our customers a fresh and diverse shopping experience.”

The Market board of directors expressed thanks to the City of Greater Sudbury for its ongoing financial support, and to Science North for hosting the farmer’s market for the past two years.

To celebrate the inaugural market day at Elm Place, visitors have the chance to win a market basket filled with a curated selection of Market goods.
