Special Olympics Ontario, Laurentian University and the CNIB are among the beneficiaries of proceeds from Wolves United 50/50 raffles.

The initiative is a partnership between S.W. Sports and Entertainment, the parent company of the Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club, and United Way Centraide North East Ontario.

Here's a full list of projects that will benefit from the funding:

  • The CTV Lions Christmas Telethon, to purchase toys, clothing and food for children. By the way, the telethon takes place Saturday, Dec. 2 from 2-11 p.m.
  • Special Olympics Ontario to support Special Olympics Ontario Championship Floor Hockey and Special Olympics Ontario School Competitions Badminton.
  • Laurentian University to produce Aboriginal Children’s Health and Wellbeing Measure Kits.
  • Manitoulin Family Resources to provide Healthy Relationships Public Education for Grades 9 – 12 students.
  • CNIB to subsidize blind or partially sighted youth to attend the Summer Camp Program or Sports and Recreation Camp.

“The Wolves United partnership is an innovative method of community fundraising in the Sudbury/Manitoulin area,” said Michael Cullen, executive director of United Way Centraide North East Ontario, in a press release.

“It is heartwarming to see the support of Wolves fans for our youth, as well as the dedication of our WOLVES United volunteers. This first round of funding supports some original projects as well as some community favourites.”

"We are very pleased to give back to our community through this new partnership and relationship," said Andrew Dale, VP Marketing and Development for the Sudbury Wolves.

"Delivering this funding in an annual fashion, rather than game by game, will help local youth initiatives to access needed supports and services to better our community."
