The Sudbury Women’s Centre is hosting its annual Thrifty Thursday: Prom Edition event on April 25.

Held from 6-8 p.m. at the Women’s Centre, 174 Douglas Street, Suite 201, the prom event will offer a selection of gently used prom dresses and gowns, all completely free of charge.

SWC has also partnered with Shoppers on Elm, and Curls, Ups, & Dyes to book complimentary hair and makeup appointments to help take the stress out of planning for prom, the Women’s Centre said in a news release.

“Prom season can bring both excitement and worry, especially as the costs associated with these events continue to rise,” said SWC executive director Giulia Carpenter.

“However, this month's Thrifty Thursday offers a unique opportunity to alleviate that burden. We are offering a chance to seamlessly plan for prom in one place, without having to worry about the financial pressures. Participants can affordably and sustainably find everything they need to ensure they shine at these special occasions.”

Regular Thrifty Thursday clothing and accessories will still be available for purchase on April 25. What’s more, if participants spend or donate more than $30 , they will also be entered into a draw for a chance to win a Saje Wellness prize pack and two tickets to the SWC Fundraiser Dinner at the Daventry on April 28.
