Responsible pet ownership has been front and centre in the news for the last few months.
Cases of cruelty have tugged on the heartstrings of the community and rounded up unprecedented support for pets and animals.
To help illustrate just how many resources are available to pet owners within Greater Sudbury, Magical Paws is planning the first-ever Fun Fur Facts Woof Fest.
On Sept. 22, the community is invited to join the volunteer pet therapy group at Minnow Lake Place, 1127 Bancroft Dr., for all things dog-related.
“We want to promote awareness and education,” Annette Lumbis, co-ordinator of Magical Paws, said. “Sudbury has proven time after time how many dogs lovers there are in our city.
“Many have opened their wallets, walked the walks for cause and signed petitions, but it isn't enough. Magical Paws believes that bringing awareness and education can go a long way in making a difference in the lives of dogs and owners.”
Businesses that provide services to dogs and owners are invited to share their offerings to members of the niche market.
So far, Lumbis said trainers, breeders, groomers, boarding facilities and pet sitters are lined up to be present at the event, as well as canine athletes and working dogs.
The event is free for owners and their leashed and vaccinated dogs.
Vendors interested in participating are asked to contact Lumbis at 705-693-4912.
