Parents/guardians of children with autism in Rainbow Schools are invited to an ABLLS workshop on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Gatchell School. The session will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the school gymnasium.

ABLLS is the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills, a tool for assessing language and learning needs. "It is most commonly used in the process of developing a program for children on the autism spectrum," said Iva McNair, principal of Gatchell School, in a release.

As part of the information session, parents/guardians will have an opportunity to learn more about the goals in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and the alternative curriculum for students with special needs.

"This is the first in a series of four evenings for parents/guardians being presented by Gatchell School and its school council," said McNair. "Other topics include a resource make-and-take session for parents, an agency fair and a barbecue and Open House."

Those interested in attending the workshop are asked to RSVP by Wednesday, Jan. 21 to Iva McNair, principal, by phone at 674-1221 or by e-mail at [email protected] .

Please indicate if you require child care, which will be provided at the school during the workshop.

Gatchell School is located at 31 Tuddenham Ave. in Sudbury. From downtown Sudbury, travel west on Lorne Street, turn right on Tuddenham Avenue and turn left at the stop sign at the top of the hill.
