The City of Greater Sudbury is undertaking Phase 1 of its Official Plan Review and the city is asking residents to share their comments at a series of open houses throughout the community.

“The Official Plan Review allows us to act today, in the interests of tomorrow,” said Mayor Brian Bigger in a news release. “What do you see for the future, and how do you think we can get there? The Official Plan lays the foundation for decisions about land use in the community, including protecting the natural environment, developing quality of life and place, and building a healthier community for all residents.”

Phase 1 of the Official Plan Review covers topics such as secondary suites, local food production, climate change adaptation, and water quality, to name a few. Phase 2 of the Official Plan Review will address matters related to transportation, infrastructure, and economic development.

“The Open Houses and public comment period for the Official Plan Review are important to ensure that the changes reflect the needs of the community,” said Fern Cormier, chair of the Planning Committee and councillor for Ward 10.
