Folks in Coniston, Wahnapitae, Markstay and parts of Sudbury, including New Sudbury, may notice low water pressure March 9, the city said in a news release today.

To allow for upgrades to the its treatment syste, the watermain feed will be temporarily shut off from the Wanapitei Water Treatment Plant.

The Ellis Reservoir will supply water during the shutdown, so people will still have water during the work. The shutdown will occur from 7 a.m. March 9 to 1 a.m. March 10.

Water supply will be limited during the shutdown and the city is asking people to reduce consumption to compensate.

Once the water is back on and pressure is restored, folks may notice discoloured water coming from their taps. Simply run the cold water tap closest to your water meter for several minutes until water is clear of sediment.

In the event of prolonged discoloration or low water pressure, residents are asked to call 3-1-1.
