The Young Sudbury Singers are partnering with well-known guitarist Jamie Dupuis to present a family friendly concert April 20.

The concert will feature the enthusiastic voices of 57 children in the junior, intermediate and senior choirs, as well as solo performances by Jamie Dupuis and vocalist Emma McDaniel. The program will include a variety of traditional and contemporary selections, all shared in celebration of the coming of spring.

“We’re especially pleased to be able to sing a few selections with Jamie Dupuis in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Beatles’ initial visit to North America,” said Heather Charsley, director of the senior choir.

The youth choir has also seen growth in its membership lately.

“We’re so pleased with the growth of the choir this year, with 40 new members joining us since September,” said Jessie Lloyd, director of the intermediate choir. “Our singers are looking forward to sharing the selections they’ve learned over the past several months.”

After graduating from Cambrian College in 2011 where he studied with Phil Candelaria, Jamie Dupuis received a full-ride scholarship to the Musicians Institute in California.

Dupuis is now working as a professional musician in a variety of settings throughout the Sudbury area and across Northern Ontario, as well as numerous albums and YouTube videos.

The concert will be held on Saturday, April 20, starting at 2 p.m. in the Sheridan Auditorium at Sudbury Secondary School, 154 College St. in Sudbury. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for students; children six years old and under are admitted free.

Tickets can be reserved by calling Ralph McIntosh at 705-662-0115 or emailing [email protected]. Tickets will also be available at the door.
