In anticipation of the July production of The Wizard of Oz in Concert, STC/YES Theatre have put out a video of “Sudbury’s Dorothy,” 16-year-old Maryn Tarini, performing “Over the Rainbow.”

You can watch that below:

"Over the Rainbow" is a ballad by Harold Arlen with lyrics by Yip Harburg. It was written for the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, in which it was sung by actress Judy Garland in her starring role as Dorothy Gale.

It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and became Garland's signature song.

Tarini is performing an arrangement of the song by Garret Healey. The video was filmed and edited by Here Kitty Kitty Productions.

The upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz in Concert celebrates the rarely heard full score. With an astounding 20 piece orchestra and more than 20 actors, this concert is not to be missed, said a press release.

This heartwarming show brings you all the movie magic memories and the nostalgia for the girl in the ruby red slippers.

As Dorothy takes us on the adventure of a lifetime with her friends, Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion, she discovers the true meaning of friendship, bravery, brains and heart. Fly over the rainbow with her as she reminds us all that there is no place like home.

The production runs at STC July 14-17. Purchase tickets online here.
