CARMICHAEL, Raili (née Nyfors)
Just two days after marking her 90th birthday Jan. 9, Raili Ingrid Carmichael suffered a heart attack and died later in the day at Health Sciences North.
She is survived by sons Harold (Carol-Ann) and Dana (Marissa), both of Garson, and James (Susan) of Ottawa; grandchildren Erica (Nathan Sherritt) and Caitlin Carmichael (Chris Dufour) of Greater Sudbury, Colin Carmichael of West Nipissing, and Jesse Carmichael and Ashley Carmichael of Ottawa; great-grandchildren Johnathan, Samantha, Hannah, Bentley, Evan, and shortly a new great-granddaughter. Predeceased by husband John and parents Hilda and Einari Nyfors.
A lifelong resident of Garson, Raili attended Sudbury High School, worked briefly at Cochrane's, and then became a full-time homemaker. A passionate baseball fan, she met her husband John who was a local baseball player and was most happy watching a Toronto Blue Jays game.
A private family funeral will be held at a later date at the Cooperative Funeral Home on Lasalle Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, donations to any pet-related charity would be appreciated.
