April 24, 1948 - December 25, 2023

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of Kevin William Castonguay on December 25, 2023, at the age of 75. He passed away in the loving arms of his wife of 51 years, Joyce, surrounded by the warmth of his family—daughter Tracey (Sam) Klinkhammer, sons KC Castonguay, Derek (Helena) Castonguay, and his six cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Elizabeth, Nolan, Daks, Ella, and Ian.

Kevin the eldest of 14 children, son of Gladys and Cyril Castonguay both predeceased, was born on April 24, 1948, into a close-knit family that would become the cornerstone of his life. Predeceased by his brother Wayne, who left this world too young in 1949, Kevin leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family.

Kevin's love story with Joyce began thanks to the wise counsel of his father who sent his son to drop off some papers to a cute receptionist that worked at their lawyers’ office. Kevin and Joyce's love story unfolded rapidly. He proposed after just one month, and eight months later, on September 9, 1972, they dedicated their lives to each other in marriage—a beautiful journey that lasted over five decades. He kept the piece of paper that she wrote her phone number on that day they met, sharing that those numbers were worth more than any lottery ticket.

Together, Kevin and Joyce created a life filled with love, laughter, and enduring memories. Raised in a busy household of 13 siblings, Kevin understood the true meaning of family. For him, family was everything, and he was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. Over 40 summers were spent vacationing at Happy Landing Lodge with siblings, as well as his brother-in-law Bob, and Marcy's family, creating bonds that would withstand the test of time.

A man of integrity and hard work, Kevin joined his father's insurance business in 1969, contributing not only to the family business but also to the community. He served as a counsellor for the town of Rayside Balfour in the early '70s, was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a parishioner of over 50 years to St. Alexander's Church. Kevin found immense joy in singing in the choir, a passion that brought light to the hearts of those around him. His rich voice will be sorely missed.

Kevin was a kind-hearted and respected man who cherished life and took pleasure in bringing happiness to his family, a sentiment that extended even to the grand dogs, for whom he always had treats waiting.

As we bid farewell to Kevin William Castonguay, let us remember the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the lasting impact of a life well-lived. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
