C’est avec une grande tristesse que la famille annonce le décès de monsieur André Drouin, le jeudi 23 novembre 2023 à l’âge de 93 ans. Né le 17 janvier 1930 à Casselman, fils de feu Émile et de feu Éliane (née Ladouceur) Drouin. Ce sont les mines qui l’ont amené à Sudbury où il a été un employé exemplaire et fiable pour la compagnie INCO jusqu’à sa retraite. Une fois à la retraite, il a su démontrer ses talents en menuiserie en créant de multiples projets pour lui et ses enfants. Avec son épouse bien-aimée, feu Georgette (née Soucy), ils ont adoré découvrir, d’un océan à l’autre, notre beau pays ainsi qu’une grande partie des États-Unis. Aussi, chacun va se souvenir de son immense jardin dont il était si fier et qu’il a maintenu jusqu’à l’âge de 80 ans, partageant ses récoltes avec sa famille, ses amis et ses voisins.
Père dévoué et aimé de ses sept enfants : Suzanne Cutler, Gérard, Gaëtan (Sheila), Gaston (Monique), Danielle Therrien (Normand), Luc (Sharon) et Diane Poulin (Daniel).
Fier grand-père de 14 petits-enfants : Michelle, Jason, Jillian, Alysha, Derek, Josée, Mélanie, Jessie, Yanick, Patrick, Stéphanie, Christine D, Christine P et Samantha, et de 12 arrière-petits-enfants : Luca S, Samuel, Félix, Sophie, Brooks, Elena, Milan, Noah, Stella, Luca D, Levi et Lennox.
Il laisse aussi dans le deuil une sœur, Sre Lorraine, ainsi que deux frères, Raymond (Lucille) et Alain (Madeleine). Il a été précédé par trois frères : Gérard, Maurice (feu Thérèse) et Robert (feu Juliette).
André sera aussi regretté par plusieurs belles-sœurs, beaux-frères, nièces, neveux, parents et amis.
La famille désire remercier tout particulièrement Larry, ses précieux voisins, amis et parents qui l’ont côtoyé au cours des années, ainsi que le personnel de la maison de retraite Westmount, du centre de soins continus Saint-Joseph et à Horizon Santé-Nord, Dre Patrie, Dre Michael, Dre Centis. Nous sommes très reconnaissants des soins et du dévouement apportés à notre père.
Nous gardons plusieurs beaux souvenirs de notre père, notre beau-père, notre grand-père, notre arrière-grand-père, un homme fier, travaillant et dévoué.
Une messe funéraire sera célébrée le samedi 29 juin 2024 à 11 h à la paroisse Ste-Agnès, à Azilda.

It is with great sadness that the family wishes to announce the passing of Mr. André Drouin on Thursday, November 23rd at the age of 93. He was born on January 17th, 1930, in Casselman from late Émile and late Éliane (Ladouceur) Drouin. The mines brought him to Sudbury in which he was an exemplary and hard worker for INCO until his retirement. Upon retirement he pursued his interest in woodworking creating multiple projects for his household and his children. André and the love of his life, Georgette (Soucy) (predeceased), enjoyed travelling from coast to coast, exploring our beautiful country and a good part of the United States. Albums upon albums of memories were created afterwards. We will always remember his immense garden which he proudly maintained until the age of 80, generously sharing his bountiful crops with family, friends, and neighbours.
André was a devoted and loving father to his seven children, Suzanne Cutler, Gérard, Gaëtan (Sheila), Gaston (Monique), Danielle Therrien (Normand), Luc (Sharon) and Diane Poulin (Daniel).
He was also the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren, Michelle, Jason, Jillian, Alysha, Derek, Josée, Mélanie, Jessie, Yanick, Patrick, Stéphanie, Christine D, Christine P and Samantha, as well as 12 great-grandchildren, Luca S, Samuel, Félix, Sophie, Brooks, Elena, Milan, Noah, Stella, Luca D, Levi and Lennox.
André is survived by his sister, Sist. Lorraine, and his brothers, Raymond (Lucille) and Alain (Madeleine). He was predeceased by three brothers, Gérard, Maurice (late Thérèse) and Robert (late Juliette).
He will also be missed by his in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
The family especially wishes to thank Larry, his very helpful and supportive neighbours, friends, and family and all who have recently assisted our dad: the staff at Westmount Retirement Home, St-Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre and Health Services North, Dr Patrie, Dr Michael and Dr. Centis, whose care he was under. We are forever grateful of your kindness and care towards our dad.
Over the years many memories were formed of our dad, a proud, hardworking, and dedicated father, father-in-law, grand-father, and great-grand-father.
A funeral Mass for family and friends will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Ste-Agnès Church, Azilda.
