FREDETTE (née Henri), Gertrude

November 9, 1920 – December 17, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family announces the gentle passing of Gertrude on December 17, 2023 at the amazing age of 103. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Daniel Fredette of 47 years in 1986 and her life partner Gaston Charbonneau in 2018. She is survived by her children Nelson (Adelia), Doreen (George), Bob, Dennis (Claudette), Gilbert (Gaetane) and David (Suzanne). Gertrude is predeceased by her eldest son Richard. She was admired by her 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Devoted daughter to the late David Henri and the late Josephine Pharand. She is survived by her sister Carmen Joly-Goulet and predeceased by 6 brothers and 2 sisters. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones. Gertrude will be remembered by Jeannette Fredette, Jeannot Cayen and Brenda Fredette-Labelle.

She was a strong believer in natural healing which she spent most of her life learning and teaching others. She enjoyed collecting health and wellness books. She started adding nutritional supplements to her diet in 1971 and never stopped.

Gertrude was a beautiful, spiritual, vibrant woman. She was the type of person who, once committed, never looked back.  Gertrude was a force on the dance floor as she loved ballroom dancing. She was also a long-time member of the Caruso Club and a parishioner of Paroisse Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire, in Blezard Valley.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Elizabeth Centre in Val Caron for taking such great care of Gertrude. And a special thank you to her granddaughter Nicole, for her dedication as her primary care giver.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to be made to the Elizabeth Centre, Val Caron. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
