McDOUGALL, Allan ‘‘Al’’ David

Allan passed away suddenly at the Health Sciences North in Sudbury on September 14, 2023, at the age of 72 years. He was the loving husband and soulmate of the late Katherine ‘‘Katie’’ Lynch. Loving father to Robin (Heather) and Tyler (Jen). Proud and devoted grandpa to Gwendolyn, Claire, Grace, Maya, Juliet, and Ethan.

Allan was the son of Gordon and Vivian (née Prescott) McDougall. Allan will be dearly missed by his sister Linda (Garbutt) and brother Erwin and Dan. Predeceased by his siblings Lyle, Rodney, Keith, and Wendy Schroeder (Kent). He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends, and many neighbours from Falconbridge who deeply cared for his well-being. Allan will also be missed by his cat Patty.

Allan was born in Sudbury on June 16, 1951, at the family home. He was the 2nd youngest of eight children. He was educated at Charles McCrea Public School, Lasalle High School and Ryerson college. He was a retired police officer for the Durham Region (Whitby) and retired as a health inspector for the Board of Health for Sudbury and District.

Allan in his younger days was passionate about the Jaycee organization for which he was an active member. He kept in contact with these people throughout his life. He also supported his fellow police officers by attending important life events whenever he could. His past hobbies were card collecting, stamp collecting and visiting garage sales. He spent considerable time and hard work renovating his homes to his satisfaction.

Allan enjoyed travelling and favoured Cuba. He had friends there who he would visit and help. He also travelled Canada, and a few places in Europe such as Holland and Portugal.

He professed to be a Christian and practiced charitable giving. If he saw a need, he was there to help. His family, friends and neighbours were important to him.

All who knew him personally will mourn his loss. May he rest in peace now with Katie.

In keeping with Allan’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
