July 9, 1954 - February 21, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Germain (Gerry) Montpellier. Entrepreneur, automotive enthusiast, proud councillor of Ward 3, loving husband & father, Gerry reached the end of his journey on February 21, 2024 at the age of 69 years.

Son of the late Rodolphe (Rudy) and Edesse (nee David) Montpellier, Germain was an adoring husband to Denise, a loving father to his son John (Chantal) and proud step-grandfather to Larkin Dignard. Missed by his brothers & sister, François (Sylvie) of Azilda, Jean (Lise) and Henri -predeceased (Lorraine) of Chelmsford and Nicole Larouche (Ron -predeceased) of Marathon.

Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends & community members.

His passion for motorsports began at a young age when watching his uncles race their snowmobiles. Heavily involved in car shows and numerous motorsports, Gerry led a fulfilling career as a classic car & motorcycle appraiser, marine surveyor and custom painter.

While volunteering his time as auctioneer to many community groups & charities, he also devoted his time on city council, acting as a strong voice for the community.

He will always be remembered for his exuberant voice, larger-than-life personality, kindness and selflessness towards others. Words alone cannot express the full extent of Germain’s character.

As such, please join us at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 4691 R.R. 15, Chelmsford on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. to commemorate his life and legacy, and to remember the positive impact he has made on our community. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St-Joseph Church Chelmsford.

Our thanks go out to the nursing staff of HSN that provided his care. Also, thank you to Dr. Knight for her constant attention to Germain’s health.
