Charges laid in Brampton collision that killed 71-year-old pedestrian

BRAMPTON, Ont. — A 19-year-old Brampton man has been arrested on dangerous driving charges in connection to a vehicle collision last month that killed a 71-year-old pedestrian.

Peel Regional Police say shortly before 8 p.m. on Aug. 31, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Countryside Drive and Mountainash Road in Brampton. The impact pushed one of the vehicles onto the curb of the southeast corner of the intersection, striking the man.

The victim was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and recently died of his injuries.

Police say they arrested the teenage suspect on Friday. He is charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, and will appear in court in December.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Peel Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
