Woman charged in death of two-year-old son who fell from 14th floor window

TORONTO — A woman is facing criminal charges in the death of her two-year-old son, who fell from a 14th floor window in Toronto over the summer.

Police say it happened on the afternoon of July 28 when the boy was sleeping in his apartment.

They say a 31-year-old woman left the apartment for unknown reasons, leaving the boy alone.

Investigators say while she was away the boy fell out of the window and later died in hospital.

Officers say the woman turned herself in and has been charged with criminal negligence causing death and parent failing to provide the necessaries of life.

She's due in court in early November.
