Youth charged after 14-year-old girl shot in the head and badly wounded

TORONTO — A teenager is facing charges nearly a week after a 14-year-old girl in Toronto was shot in the head.

Police allege the 17-year-old male was with a group of young people in an apartment last Friday at the time of the shooting.

The victim is stable in hospital but has what police call "life-altering injuries."

Police say the accused and several others ran from the apartment after the shooting, and officers made the arrest on Tuesday.

He's facing nine charges, including aggravated assault and various firearm counts.

The accused can't be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
