$1.2 M marijuana bust on Grassy Lake Rd.

A 40-year-old Greater Sudbury man was arrested Tuesday when a Joint Forces Drug Unit conducted a search of his residence on Grassy Lake Rd., seizing cannabis marijuana with a potential street value of more than $1.2 million.

A 40-year-old Greater Sudbury man was arrested Tuesday when a Joint Forces Drug Unit conducted a search of his residence on Grassy Lake Rd., seizing cannabis marijuana with a potential street value of more than $1.2 million.

A warranted search of the residence revealed 833 marijuana plants, 400 marijuana seedings, 1.5 pounds of marijuana bud, 10 pounds of marijuana shake and 5 grams of marijuana resin all potentially worth approximately $1,238,585.

Police also seized more than $18,000 worth of light ballasts, tools and growing equipment.

The Joint Forces Drug Unit consists of Greater Sudbury Police, Ontario Provincial Police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The man in custody has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, production of a controlled substance, theft of hydro and possession of property obtained by crime.
